"Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." Isaiah 64:8
Handmade, unglazed and elemental, the Nativity Collections strip away distractions and embody the true meaning of Christmas. These collections invite you to imagine the nativity scene in all its rawness and glory. The material informs the message. Imagine the torn cloth, the splinters, the animals, the earthy yet divine sights, sounds and smells of this precious scene. You have no choice but to draw yourself closer to observe and imagine; for this set is intentionally small so you linger, interact and have an exchange with the natural, elegant tableau.
A portion of every sale of the Nativity Collections will benefit an organization that provides safety and shelter to survivors of domestic violence. These beacons of light provide room in the inn when all other doors have closed and there is darkness and no hope. Imagine how Mary must have felt knowing she was about to give birth with the uncertainty of where she would shelter her baby, the Christ child. Similarly, many families flee an abusive home with no idea where they will find comfort and solace. It seems appropriate that our gift from the profits of the Nativity Collections will benefit Helpmate in Buncombe County, North Carolina, an organization committed to providing safety, resources, shelter and community to those in need. This year's funds will benefit Camp Hope, a new endeavor being piloted by Helpmate in 2019 which provides camping/mentoring experiences to children who have experienced domestic abuse in Buncombe County.
